Hello dear friends…I have been on a bit of a blogging break, I missed you all! My family and I went camping at the beautiful Lake Powhatan in the North Carolina mountains. It was so nice to get away and just be out in nature and enjoy God’s creation.
Tent camping is a tradition with our little family. It is a good reminder of all the unnecessary things we allow into our lives & the many things we can easily do without if need be. It is good for the soul to leave behind all of the little every day conveniences of modern living and just ‘BE.’ To do such menial tasks as washing every dish by hand…without hot running water…sleeping in a sleeping bag and not on an ergonomically correct mattress. Listening to the crickets and tree frogs as you drift off to sleep, instead of the whirr of a ceiling fan or central air conditioning. Leaving behind cell phone service, the internet and all of the electronic distractions that come with modern life.
I cannot begin to tell you, the peace that filled my heart this past week, while at camp. It was the first time in a long time, that I had a chance to really SEE the sunset…to hear nature…to SEE the stars. What a wonderful, old world we live in. What a blessing to witness God’s grand design first hand.
While there we enjoyed fishing for trout, and other freshwater fish…camp fires every night…marshmallows roasted over the fire….long walks…beautiful sunsets…sleeping under the stars…soft summer breezes…pancake breakfasts cooked on our little camp stove…and falling asleep to a gentle rain battering against the rain fly of our trusty tent. We made memories to hold in our hearts for a lifetime.
So for today, I leave you with some beautiful pictures of Lake Powhatan and the NC mountains.
Have a wonderful weekend and I will be back to blogging next week. Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate each and every one of you.
